Today I was going through some old MS-WORD documents and came across one saved under the title A Bad Day. 

Strange I thought since I was absolutely sure I had no idea of the file's contents.   I looked under "Last Modified."  It was dated a year ago.  Weird. 

Well, let's have a looksie -- double click and --  not even a few words in -- I do remember writing this. 

Last year, a few months before I met tophersterling , I had written a paragraph about work and the stress, god the stress.  I was about 8 months into the job at the hospital and not handling it very well.

Here's what I wrote back in May of 2008 –

12:20 pm.  I have a bad feeling about today.  I’m sitting here on my bed, still in my pajamas with the lights off, door shut, and the window shades tightly fastened.  My 8-hour  shift starts at 2:30 this afternoon and I really don’t want to leave my bedroom.  Yesterday was a day from hell; and I know everybody in the working world has “those days,” but never have I experience d a day that was so overwhelming it literally poisoned the attitude of the entire staff of a GOD DAMN HOSPITAL!  Maybe one or two departments, fuck it, I’ll go balls out and imagine 5 or 8 hospital departments having a really rough time.  But as I sit here hiding in my bedroom I can honestly say that without a doubt, the hospital where I work has somehow angered god.  12:37 pm.   Check this shit out: unending frustration  --

The entry just stops. 

Damn, a lot can happen in a year.  I’m so VERY VERY thankful I met the LOVE-OF-MY-LIFE, Topher, and decided to stick with the job.  A year later I have my husbear and a job I can honestly say I love doing. 

Currently, my husbear’s dealing with unending frustration at work & it KILLS me to see him so miserable.  Topher, after I read this I immediately thought of you and the similar bullshit you have to put up with day in and day out. 

I love you Topher.  Things WILL get better I promise.  Hang in there my Love.  We’ve got each other & honestly I’m looking forward to the year ahead…and the next one after that…the next one…next…

I hope this little peak into my moment of meltdown was encouraging.  At the very least I hope it made you smile.   Man, I love it when you smile  :-)

So here I am at work day 7 of 7. 

I'm wiped-out, run-down, sleep-deprived, spirit-crushed, and have exhausted all my caffeine reserves.  And caffeine can only do so much. 

But it never fails.  I'll sit, take a moment (deep breaths deep breath) and watch/listen to these few videos and BAM!!  I'm back baby!! 

For whatever reason these songs get me amp’d -- they just DO it for me. 

Anyone out there got similar songs that just "pick you up"??

Ruffles  -- I will never let go of the memories you left behind.

You enchanted us from the start:  from watching you eat your first Ruffle chip – to you giving birth at the foot of my bed one very EARLY and very SURPRISING morning – to you raising two beautiful, brother & sister kittens who both followed after their mother’s vibrant affection for life – to you always making sure our ears were clean & never dry despite our best efforts otherwise – to you outliving Midnight, your daughter Dazzler, and arguably the greatest cat ever, Sunshine, who certainly enriched my life growing up and can never be replaced nor forgotten – you Ruffles will never be forgotten and will always remain in our hearts.  You are forever family.  Thank you Ruffs for everything.    

We will miss you terribly.

And Ruffles, one last thing...please give Sunshine a hug and a kiss for me.  And a head-butt.  Tell ‘em I said hi, that I love him, and that he is deeply missed.

A Little About ME

I'm 5'11" and weigh 190 lbs. Very silly and animated. Don't smoke, don't do drugs...but I do drink (and am not a light-weight despite my size...h-o-l-y shit, you would be amazed). My favorite drink these days would be the Incredible Hulk – 1 part Jack Daniels and 1 part Hypnotic. Mmmmmm...delicious.

So I'm a southern boy who loves going out on the town (restaurants, bar hopping), pool parties, BBQ's, & anyplace that involves good, fun people. I like going to the movies, hanging out in the hot tub, staying up at night with a good video game, goofing off, and the occasional afternoon with a good book and some red wine.

When I’m with Topher I’m in heaven! I got to spend New Year’s Eve with him and I can’t think of a better way to ring in the New Year! We did everything to celebrate: Midnight Kiss, Broke His Bedroom Curtains, Disneyland, Met his Family-Met his Friends & Awesome Roommate, Stroll on the Beach, Exchanged Christmas Presents, DreamGirls @ Ripples, Almost Stole A Car, Disneyland Again!, Heckled By A Hot Dog Street Vendor On Hollywood Blvd., DivaDiner, and Sunday Brunch in Long Beach.

If I had a million dollars I would constantly travel. I recently got a chance to visit Europe and my favorite place was Spain. The Bears in Madrid party all night and they do it right: dancing, drinking, and eventually nudity.

Currently, I work at a university hospital in central pharmacy. I spend my days in a sterile, windowless lab making patient IV bags and injections. One day it will pay off as all hard work & effort eventually does, right? Right?! Guys…someone…tell me it works that way…grumps...grumps...grumps!

Annnnywho, I plan to start pharmacy school in Fall 2009 and put my otherwise worthless chemistry degree to good use. Actually, I do love chemistry and yes, from time to time I do embrace my inner-dork.

Your World Today -- NEWSMAP

Ok, so I'm trying to blog more these days.  A friend of mine writes almost everyday and I find all his entries a pleasure to read.  I always manage to talk myself out of posting my thoughts and experiences.  I do that for a number of reasons, but the main one being that I'm afraid, anxious about sharing my personal feelings and opinions with anyone.  Anyway, I'm trying to improve so here goes...

I don't know if you're a fan of dance music but about 5 years ago this song came out by Eric Prydz - "Call on Me."  I happen to come across the video on youtube and if you've watched it, you'll know what I'm talking about...I went from "Oh that's kinda cool" to "WTF!!!" which was followed by hysterical, uncontrollable laughter. 

The video is RIDICULOUS!! 

About 15 hot looking girls are in these impossibly tight leotards doing this erotic "aerobics" workout to the song.  I swear you can see the instructor's JJ at one point in the video!  Ewwww!!!  And then there's this lone, stalker-looking guy smacked dab in the middle  of all of this and he's just leering at the instructor with the creepiest grin and periodically mouthing something (quite possibly "I'll kill you") to her.  The video could have possibly passed for sexy (sorta) if only male rapist #1 hadn't shown up. 

But this post is NOT about critical observation! 

The best part (thanks to the power of youtube) is that tons of people have made their own "aerobics" video set to the same song.....HOLY SHIT!!  There are some awesome (and some downright scary) versions of Eric Prydz's original video.  Most notably was the gay version which I thought was great!  I'm fairly sure all those guys were gay.  But then there's this other gay version where all the guys are straight I think and I 'bout peed my pants.

Anyways, just thought I'd share with everyone.  I posted the original, the gay version, and the gay/straight version but there's a bunch more out there if you're interested.  Enjoy!!
